Sainik Niwas building inaugurated at Tirumala

The two storey building has 18 rooms with modern facilities

The Regional President of the Family Welfare Organization, Southern Command of the Army, Sunita Khanna inaugurated a 'Sainik Niwas' on Monday at Tirumala. The land was allocated by the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams in the year 2004. The two storey building has 18 rooms and two dormitories and with modern amenities and the capacity to accommodate 50 persons.

The facility fulfills the long pending need of providing affordable accommodation at Tirumala for serving and retired Army personnel. The Army is also planning to start a bus service from Chennai Central Railway Station to Tirumala and back to facilitate travel, stay and darshan at Tirumala according to a press release.

Lt.Gen.Pradeep Khanna, GOC-in-C, Southern Command and Lt. Gen. BK Chengppa, General Officer Commanding for Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala were present at the inaugural function.
