December 21, 2009, Chittoor

Vaikunta Ekadasi falls on December 28

The TTD management which is expecting a huge turnout for the auspicious 'Vaikunta Ekadasi' festival slated for December 28 has decided to allow ordinary devotees in the dharma darshan queue lines at 4am in the morning. The temple management has been experiencing unprecedented turnout of pilgrims on the festival day for the past seven years besides registering violent protests from the visiting devotees either for inordinate delay in the darshan of the Lord or issuance of excess number of VIP darshan passes.

To avoid recurrence of such unpleasant incidents, this year, the TTD EO, IYR Krishna Rao has decided to be strict in the issuance of VIP darshan passes and directed the temple officials to initiate stringent steps to ensure an early start in the dharma darshan queue lines of Lord Venkateswara Protocol darshan passes will be issued only to VIPs thronging the shrine personally.

As the Vaikunta Dwaram which is opened only once in an year on Vaikunta Ekadasi encircling the inner most sanctum will be kept open till the midnight on December 29 and the management has decided to implement only the dharma darshan and seeghra darshan systems on both days. In addition to this, the TTD also has directed all its employees not to avail any kind of leave from December 25 for nine days in view of the Ekadasi festival and the New year's Day.
