Stamp duty on lands donated to TTD waived

October 10, 2007, Tirumala, Chittoor

State Government also waived registration fee

The Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) Executive Officer (EO), KV Ramanachari speaking to media said on Wednesday that the State Government had issued a GO 643 which states that no registration fees shall be levied in respect of gift deed to be executed in favor of TTD by way of gift of lands/properties etc., donated to TTD by the donors/philanthropists in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

TTD EO said that no registration fee is also required to pay to the Government. He added that there would be no more hurdles for the devotees in donating land or properties to the TTD. The Tirupati MLA M Venkataramana on behalf of L Venkataramana of Chennai has donated a valuable land of 2.82 acres at Nagari in Chittoor district. The MLA handing over the title deed to the TTD Executive Officer said that the decision to donate the land had been made long ago.

The MLA realized the problem of Registration Charges which often runs into lakhs of rupees depending on the value of the land and has taken up the issue with the State Government and explained the situation to the State Secretaries. He said that the Government has considered his request and issued a GO to this effect. He further said that he would try to explain the benefit of such GOs to the counterparts in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka so that devotees from those regions willing to donate lands or properties to TTD for Lord Venkateswara Swamy would also benefit.
