Second phase of Kalyanamastu to begin from August 27

TTD to take Mass marriage programmes deep into villages
Speaking to media on Thursday, the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) Chairman B Karunakar Reddy said that the second phase of Kalyanamastu, the most prestigious mass marriage programme of the TTD will be conducted on August 27 at11.10am during the auspicious muhurtham Sukla Tetrasodium with Sravana Star, the birth star of Lord Venkateswara Swamy in ascendant. He said that the main objective is to help the poor families with children of marriageable age married without major expenditure and difficulty with the blessing of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
In the first phase of the programme, 4,450 couples were united in wedlock and Rs. 2.2 crore was spent for the purpose. Each bride was given a golden mangalasutram and silver toe ring along with clothes for the couples. TTD has decided to perform 50,000 marriages and more if needed. He said that the TTD had taken the initiative to start the programmes with a noble intention of facilitating the poor perform the most important ritual in life.
He said that letters, invitations and brochures will be sent to all sarpanches, MPTC, ZPTC and chairpersons and all public representatives requesting them to motivate the people to utilize the opportunity. He added that all precautionary measures were taken and request the couples willing to get married under Kalyanamastu to submit an affidavit while registering for the programme with the TTD's representatives at every mandal. He also invited the suggestion from the public any lapses that can be rectified so that the programme can be conducted smoothly.
