Lakhs of rupees worth of material gutted in fire accident at BSNL stockyard

Exact reason for the accident is yet to be established
A major fire that broke at the BSNL stockyard on old Tiruchanoor Road on Sunday afternoon. No causalities are reported so far. The lone security guard who was present at that time noticed fire and alerted his superiors, electricity officials and fire fighting officials. Immediately, the electricity officials disconnected the power supply to the ware house. According to sources, the BSNL stockyard which is of several decades old stocks worth over Rs. 1 crore worth of cables and necessary field equipment.
The fire fighting personnel brought the fire under control by evening. The BSNL General Manager (Tirupati Telecom District) R Mani along with other officials visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Speaking to media, the GM said that the exact reason for the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
The security shed is totally gutted an there were some bundles of PLB cables that were also damaged in the fire along with some OFC pipes. He said according to preliminary inquiries reveal that the damage may run into lakhs of rupees. The police registered a case and are investigating.
