TTD contemplating modern gadgets to Venkateswara Swamy temple
In view of the enhanced security threat, the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) is contemplating procurement of modern gadgets to further fortify Venkateswara temple at Tirumala. As part of the efforts to keep a watch on the goods and commodities ferried to hill town, two luggage scanners are planned to be installed at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs each, one at the security point at Alipiri and he other at Ugranam inside the Tirumala Temple complex.
Speaking to media, the TTD's Chief Vigilance and Security Officer K Hari Kumar said that seven to eight 'boom barriers' would be installed in the vicinity of the temple to prevent entry of vehicles into the prohibited area. The remote operated barriers would make sharp spikes open up on the ground that punctures the vehicles marching towards the temple.
A mobile bullet proof marches would also be procured to meet exigencies. The customized gadgets would be fitted with wheels so that they could be moved towards the target with he guards taking cover behind them.
