MLA visit campsite
The relay hunger strike of NMRs of Sri Venkateswara University took a 'devotional turn' on Monday with the NMRs seeking the divine hand to come to their rescue. In a novel protest, the employees broke coconuts to the portrait of Lord Venkateswara and prayed to Him to melt the heart of the Vice Chancellor and make him see the reality and sanction timescales. The agitators replaced the angry slogans by the chants of Govinda.
All the 600 NMRs and their families have threatened that they would commit suicide if their demands are not met. Meanwhile, the local MLA M. Venkataramana visited the site and tried to pacify them. He sought the details from them and assured of taking the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Republican Party of India secretary P. Anjaiah and District MPTCs' Association president Venkataramana expressed solidarity with the agitating employees. AP Universities Non Teaching Employees' Association general secretary Nagaeswara Rao will be visiting on Wednesday.
