Chittoor Ex-MLA survives bid on life

Gunman, an assiliant and a municipal employee killed

The former MLA of Chittoor, CK Babu survived an attempt on his life on Friday when a gang of eight unidentified assailants tried to storm his party office and shoot him down. However, he escaped narrowly when his followers overpowered and threw out an assailant who aimed a revolver at him. The intruder was later killed a gunman of the Ex-MLA Hussain Basha and an electrical supervisor in the Chittoor Municipal Office.

According to sources, the gang members came in two vehicles. While one of them reportedly barged into the former MLAs room, others were engaged in a battle with security guards in the office compound. The gang gave up and fled the scene when three of its members sustained bullet injuries and the condition of one of the members is reported to be serious. The police could not arrest any of them as their identity has not been established.

At a press conference, the ex-MLA Babu said at his residence that though his rivals had made seven attempts on his life so far. He remained shell shocked inside his room for 20 minutes when the gun battle was on outside and when he came out later saw the bodies lying outside.
