Temples to be closed on lunar eclipse eve

Suddhi and Punyahavachanam to be held on September 8

With a Partial Lunar Eclipse visible in many parts of the country, temples in Chitoor will remain close starting 6:00 PM on September 7, 2006. A release from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanas (TTD) said that the temple of Lord Sri Venkateswara will also be closed.

Some of the temple will be reopened on September 8 early morning at 2:30 AM and others at 4:00 AM. Suddhi and Punyahavachanam will be done at the temple upon reopening. The temple proceedings will begin with the Suprabhata Seva and will be opened for devotees to take the darshan starting 9:30 AM
