Tirupati gears up for World Tourism Day Celebrations

Tourism Department and AP Tourism jointly are organizing special programs
September 27 is a very special day. Since 1980, special celebrations are marked for September 27 to observe the World Tourism Day, the day that marks the adoption of the Statutes of the World Tourism Organization (WTO). The Theme for the 2006 Tourism Day Celebrations is Tourism Enriches and Portugal will be the official host for the world-wide celebrations.
Back in the heritage-rich Tirupati, the Department of Tourism and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) are gearing up to mark the day with much glitter. The duo have conducted special competitions for school children in Essay Writing, Painting and even Dance-competitions. The winner in these competitions would receive their prizes at a special program on September 27 at the Hasthakalaramam – The Urban Haat. Musical programs and Mimicry are also marked as a part of the celebrations.
