Bronze statue of MS Subbalakshmi unveiled

The ten-foot tall bronze statue of the legendary Carnatic classical singer, MS Subbalakshmi installed at Poornakumbam Circle was unveiled by the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
While paying tributes to the classical singer, he said that the great singer made Suprabhatam of Lord Venkateswara immemorial in her melodious voice. He said that she never took even a paise from the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) for singing Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatam and other kritis.
The Chief Minister said that the TTD earned Rs.15 crores towards the sale of cassettes and CD's of Srivari Suprabhatam alone.
