Tirumala gets bulletproof shelter

Tight security blanket is soon to envelope major temples in Tirupati, which, post-Varanasi episode are being looked at as possible targets vulnerable to sabotage of terrorist attack.
The TTD has come out with details of security arrangements to be taken to fortify its temples. Accordingly, a lightweight transparent bulletproof shelter will be provided at the front portion of Venkateswara Swamy temple to shield security men form attacks. He will henceforth be ensured that all the doorframe metal detectors are fully functional. The TTD Executive Officer said that solar fencing would be provided over the temple compound walls o foil attempts of intrusion.
The list of security layers that the temple would be having include a CCTV being monitored round the clock, Bomb squad, Home guards, baggage scanners, bullet proof bunkers, dog and sniffer squad and a high-voltage solar fencing.
