Space missions to launch in the next five years
The President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam called upon the scientific community to ensure that their research and its applications lead to better quality of life for the human beings. He inaugurated the 11th International Workshop on Technical and Scientific Aspects of MST Radar' held at National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) at Gadanki. During his 20 minutes speech, he laced with valuable suggestions commanded the undivided attention of the scientists from 13 nations and others that participated across the country.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is all set to embark on prestigious space missions in the coming five years. In an interaction with the media persons at Gadakni, near Tirupati on Monday ISRO Chairman and Secretary in the Department of Space (DoS), G Madhavan Nair said that a PSLV carrying four satellites would be launched in January from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at SHAR.
He said that two of the four satellites were Cartosat and Space Craft Recovery Extension from India and the other from Indonesia and Argentina. He further added that ISRO is planning to launch INSAT IV B, a heavy satellite in February next year. He added that a 32 meter antenna would be erected at Hyderabad as part of the Chandrayana Project. The space craft to moon was expected to be launched in 2008. The President of India, ABJ Abdul Kalam who was scheduled to leave for Nellore had changed his plans at the last minute due to bad weather conditions.
