Tele film on Lord Venkateswara planned

The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam's (TTD) much-talked telefilm on 'Lord Venkateswara and his Glory' is finally about to get telecasted. The telefilm is likely to be on Doordarshan's National Channel in Hindi as a weekly serial and on DD Saptagiri in Telugu.

At a meeting held on Friday with the former Executive Officer and Advisor to the TTD Board, PVRK Prasad said that it was decided to involve a number of writers and litterateurs in the ambitious project. He said instead of purely relying on the source of books available on the subject, it was also decided to take the historical importance of Tirumala and the various mythological episodes connected to the Lord Venkateswara into account before finalizing the script.

The project is aimed at introducing Lord Venkateswara to the North as the omnipotent God, where he is already popular as Balaji. Dr.Prasad highlighted the need to enlighten the North Indian devotees of the fact that it was on Anjanadri, one of the seven hills forming Tirumala.
