Distance education Centers for IIIT

The proposal of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad to have distance education centres across the State to promote IT in the semi urban areas is under the active consideration of the Government.

Brainchild of Raj Reddy, Chairman of IIIT and the founder president of the US based Universal Digital Library, the project envisages opening of offsite campuses in Tirupati, Anathapur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Warangal and Cuddapah has also been included in the list as desired by the Chief Minister.

During a recent interaction with the Chief Minister, Dr.Raj Reddy had explained the significance of the project, given the need to take computer education to the urban and semi urban areas. The Chief Minister has promised to actively consider the proposal.
