Veterinary University at Tirupati to be set up

Chief Minister Mr. YS Rajasekahara Reddy who visited Tirupati to take part in the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Tirupati Veterinary College said that the Government will consider setting up Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University in the region. He said that neighboring district such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharastra already have at least one Veterinary University and that it is high time for our state also to have one.
He expressed dismay when the Vice Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University – P Murali said that the University has 500 teaching posts and that as many as 200 are vacant. YSR said that he will take up this issue and see that the vacant posts are filled in a timely manner.
YSR asked the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to contribute for the education sector and the well-being of the University. TTD Board Chairman announced Rs. 1.60 Crores from the TTD funds for the construction of a boys hostel and Rs. 10 lakh from the MP funds for creating and developing sporting facilities at the University.
