Over 1 Lakh devotees on Tirumala Hills

October 17, 2004
Tirupati

With the important Garuda seva of Lord Malayappa Swamy (the event diety of the Navarathri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara) is to take place on Monday, October 18, 2004, the number of devotees reaching the holy seven hills is increasing.

It is estimated that over 1 lakh devotees came to the Tirumala Shrine on Sunday alone. Needless to say, the Vaikuntam Queue Complex is full and could not accommodate any new reservations. The queue of devotees stretches up to Alwar Tank Cottages and a rough estimate shows that over 25,000 devotees are standing in the queue. A count at the toll gate shows that 4,000 vehicles go to the hill top with most of them being cars and busses.

The Sudarshan token facility costing Rs. 50 will be available for darshan on Tuesday at the time of this writing. If you are waiting for a free darshan, the token will be available after 60 hours only.
