The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) decided to go with the existing prices of the famous Tirupati Laddu – the prasadam of Lord Sri Venkateswara. The decision was taken at a meeting held in which TTD Chairman T. Subbarami Reddy presided. The laddu costs Rs. 13.62 for TTD while it sells it for Rs. 10 to pilgrims.
Other major decisions at the meeting included special darshan for the aged, physically handicapped and heart patients. The Board has also decided to set up a Development Advisory Committee that gives suggestions for the development of the temple town.
The meeting also discussed about the Pasupudhara and Kumaradhara projects. The two projects are aimed at providing storage facility for water at Tirumala. The cost of the project is Rs. 73-crores and tenders are to be called shortly. The project is expected to be completed in 2 years.
Subbarami Reddy said that TTD will start Sri Venkateswara Divya Kshetras in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The kshetras will have a temple, dhyana mandir, auditorium and marriage hall on a sprawling two acre land in these cities. The Government is expected to be providing land for the construction.
